6[12-BB. (1) The superintendence, direction and control of the conduct of the election to the office of Pradhan 2[ xxx ]or a member of a Gram panchayat shall be vested in the State Election Commission. 7[(2) Subject to the superintendence, direction and control of the State Election Commission, the Mukhya Nirvachan Adhikari (Panchayat) shall supervise and perform all functions relating to the conduct of the election to the office of Pradhan, 2[ xxx ] or a member of a Gram Panchayat in the State. 8[(3) The State Government shall, in consultation with the State Election Commission, by notification, appoint the date or dates for general election or bye-election of the Pradhan, 2[ xxx ]or members of a Gram Panchayat.]
