19. (1) A 1[Mayor] wishing to resign his office may do so by writing under his hand addressed to the State Government and it shall take effect from the date of the information to the Municipal Commissioner that it has been accepted by the State Government. (2) An 2[ * * * ] may at any time resign his office by writing under his hand addressed to the 1[Mayor]and it shall take effect as soon as it is received by the 1[Mayor].
