In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the university referred to in section 21 ; (b) "Bar Council of India" means the Bar Council of India, constituted under the Advocates Act, 1961 (25 of 1961) ; (c) "Chancellor" means the Chancellor of the university ; (d) "Executive Council" means the Executive Council of the university referred to in section 15 ; (e) "Finance Committee" means the Finance Committee of the university referred to in section 25 ; (f) "General Council" means the General Council of the university referred to in section 11 ; (g) "Registrar" means the Registrar of the university referred to in section 29 ; (h) "regulations" means the regulations of the university made under section 44 ; (i) "Schedule" means the Schedule appended to this Act ; (j) "State Government" means the Government of Maharashtra ; (k) "teacher" includes Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Readers, Lecturers and any other person imparting instructions in the university ; (l) "university" means the Maharashtra National Law University, specified in the Schedule ; (m) "University Grants Commission" means the University Grants Commission established under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956) ; (n) "Vice-Chancellor" means the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
