17. (1) The offences punishable under this Act shall be cognizable, non-bailable and non-compoundable and exclusively triable by Court of Sessions. (2) The offences under this Act shall be investigated by a police officer not below the rank of the Deputy Superintendent of Police or Assistant Commissioner of Police.
