(1) There shall be a Selection Committee for the purpose of recommendation for appointment of a University Professor, a University Associate Professor or a University Assistant Professor. University. (2) The constitution of Selection Committee, its powers and functions including the procedure for holding of meeting shall be such as may be provided in the Statutes. (3) A University Professor or a University Associate Professor or a University Assistant Professor shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor, on the recommendation of the Selection Committee, which shall send its recommendations in writing to the Vice-Chancellor along with reasoned record of assessment of the persons appeared before it for selection. (4) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1) and until constitution of a Selection Committee referred to therein, a University Teacher or an officer shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor on recommendation of the Governing Board. (5) The Selection Committee constituted under sub-section (1) shall include as its members at least one person not holding any office of profit under the University and having special knowledge of the subject which the Professor or the Associate Professor or the Assistant Professor, as the case may be, will teach, and said person will be nominated by the Chancellor.
