Every water users’ association (WUA) constituted and registered under this Act by the Registrar shall be a body corporate and shall besides the powers of a body corporate have the power to manage and maintain the irrigation system given in its charge, and to do all things necessary, proper or expedient for the safety and security of the Government property under its control and management provided that no water users’ association shall have the power to alienate in any manner any property handed over to it by the Government.
