(1) The President shall be appointed by the sponsoring body for a period of three years, with the approval of the Government in such manner, as may be prescribed by rules. (2) The eligibility criteria for the post of President shall be such as may be prescribed by rules and Regulations. (3) The President shall be the Head of the university. (4) The President shall preside over at the meetings of the Governing Body and convocation of the university for conferring degrees, diplomas or other academic distinctions. (5) The President shall have the following powers, namely:- (a) to call for any information or record from any officer or authority of the university, relating to the affairs of the university; (b) to appoint the Vice-Chancellor; (c) to remove the Vice-Chancellor in accordance with the provisions of section 20; (d) such other powers as may be prescribed by the Statutes.
