(1) The final authority responsible for maintenance of discipline among the students of the University1 shall be the Director. His directions in directions in that behalf shall be carried out by the Heads of the Department, hostels and institutions of the 1[University]. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1) the 2[punishment of] rustication from the 1[University] or a hostel or an institution, shall on the report of the Director be considered and imposed by the Executive Council : Provided that no such punishment shall be imposed without giving to the student concerned a reasonable opportunity to show cause against the action proposed to be taken against him. 3[(3) If any student is aggrieved by the order of the Executive Council, he may prefer an appeal to the Chairperson of the General Council within a period of thirty days from the date of the receipt of the order of such punishment passed by the Executive Council.]
