In this Act unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context, (a) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University ; (b) "Agriculture" means the basic and applied science of soil and water management, crop and livestock production and management, and betterment of rural people ; (c) "Board" means the Board of Management of the University ; (d) "Faculty" means a Faculty of the University ; (e) "Governor" means the Governor of Uttar Pradesh ; (f) "Prescribed" (with its cognate expressions) means prescribed by the Statutes ; (g) "Registered Graduate" means a graduate registered under the provisions of this Act ; (h) "State Government" means the Government of Uttar Pradesh; (i) "Statutes" and "Regulations" means respectively the Statutes and Regulations of the University made under this Act ; (j) "Student of the University" means a person enrolled in the University for taking a course of study for a degree, diploma or other academic distinction duly instituted ; 1[(k) "Teacher" means a person not below the rank of Assistant Professor duly appointed as per the norms and guidelines of UGC and ICAR in this regard by the University; and] 2[(l) University means the Gobind Ballabh Pant Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya or the Acharya Narendra Deva Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya or the Chandrasekhar Azad Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya or the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya or the Banda Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya, Banda or the Mahatma Buddha Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya, Kushinagar, as the case may be]
