Save as otherwise expressly provided in this Act, any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Act or any rule made thereunder shall, on conviction 1[by a Labour Court or the Industrial Court,] be punished with fine which may extend to 2[five lakhs rupees], and in case of continued contravention thereof, with an additional fine which may extend to 3[five thousand rupees] per day for every day during which such contravention continues.
