1[8AA. Application of section 499 of Bom. III of 1888 to requisitioned premises.- Without prejudice to the powers conferred by section 8A, the provisions of section 499 of the Bombay Municipal Corporation Act (Bom. III of 1888) shall apply in relation to premises, which are requisitioned or continued under requisition under this Act, with this modification that the occupier for the purposes of that section shall be the State Government or where the State Government so allows. shall be the person to whom any such premises are allotted or who is allowed to continue to remain in occupation or possession thereof, and accordingly, the State Government or such person may, in the circumstances stated in the said section 499, execute the work therein referred to, subject to the provisions of that section; but for the purposes of reimbursing itself, or such person, for the reasonable expenses incurred in executing any such work, the State Government shall be entitled to recover from the owner the amount of such expenses and may deduct that amount from the compensation which, from time to time, becomes due to the owner.]
