Whoever with the intention or with the knowledge that it may spread contagion or disease to others does any act or illegal omission, shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than one year but may extend to three years and shall also be liable to be punished with fine. Explanation- Whoever spits or throws any dirt, urine, excreta on a doctor or other person engaged in tracing, detection, taking for treatment, quarantine, isolation or otherwise, shall be deemed to have committed an offence under this section.
