(1) No person shall, without lawful authority, take away, or willfully break, throw down or damage— (a) any lamp, lamp-post or lamps-iron set up in any public street or in any 1[Corporation] garden, open space or market or building vesting in the 1[Corporation] ; (b) any electric wire for lighting any such lamps ; (c) any post, pole, standard, stay, strut, bracket or other contrivance for carrying, suspending or supporting any such electric wire or lamp ; (d) any property of the 1[Corporation] on any street ; and no person shall willfully extinguish the light or damage any appurtenance of any such lamp. (2) If any person shall, through negligence or accident of otherwise break any lamp set up in any public street or 1[Corporation] market, garden or public place or building vesting in 1[Corporation] or shall break or damage any property of the 1[Corporation] on any street, he shall pay the expenses of repairing damage so done by him.
