Vesting and maintenance of drains for sole use of properties

<span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><b>243.</b> Subject to the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 228 every drain which has been constructed, laid, erected or set up, whether at the expense of <b>²</b>[Corporation] or not, or which is continued for the sole use and benefit of any premises or group of premises shall-<br> <span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span>(a) notwithstanding anything contained in section 244 vest in the owner of such premises, or group of premises on and from the appointed day :<br> <span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span>(b) be provided with all such further appliances and fittings as may appear to the <b>¹</b>[Municipal Commissioner] necessary for the more effectual working of the same, and also be maintained in good repair and efficient condition by the owner of such premises or group of premises, and be from time to time flushed, cleansed and emptied by the <b>¹</b>[Municipal Commissioner] at the charge of the <b>²</b>[Corporation] Fund. <br>
