55. 1[Every Adhyaksha, Up-Adhyaksha, Pramukh Up-Pramukh, officer or servant of a 2[Zila Panchayat] or a 2[Kshettra Panchayat], shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and in the definition of legal remuneration in section 161 of the Code, the word Government shall, for the purpose of this section, be deemed to include 2[Zila Panchayat] and a 2[Kshettra Panchayat].
