Extraordinary powers of District Magistrate in case of emergency

<span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><b>229.</b> (1) In case of emergency the District Magistrate may provide for the execution of any work, or the doing of any act which the <b>¹</b>[Zila Panchayat] or Committee or Joint Committee thereof is empowered to execute or do, and the immediate execution or doing of which is, in his opinion, necessary for the safety or protection of the public, and may direct that the expenses of executing the work or doing the act shall be forthwith paid by the <b>¹</b>[Zila Panchayat].<br> <span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span>(2) If the expense is not so paid the District Magistrate may make an order directing the person having the custody of the Zila Nidhi to pay the expense from such fund and such person shall act upon such direction.<br> <span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><span style="margin-left:15px;"></span>(3) The District Magistrate shall forthwith report to the <b>¹</b>[Zila Panchayat] and the prescribed authority every case in which he uses the powers conferred on him by this section.<br>
