(1) On receipt of an application under section 8, the Collector shall, after making formal enquiry in the manner provided in the Code, make an award determining the amount payable to the owner under section 7. (2) Where the officer making an award under sub-section (1) is a Collector under this Act, but not a Collector appointed under section 7 of the Code, and the amount of such award exceeds fifty thousand rupees, the award shall not be made without the previous approval of the Collector appointed under section 7 of the Code.
