(1) Every owner of a private forest which vests in the Government under the provisions of this Act shall be paid by the State Government, an amount which is equal to twenty times the assessment per hectare of land comprised in such forest, and in respect of dwelling houses and amount calculated in accordance with the provisions of sections 23 and 24 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (I of 1894). (2) If any forest land has not been assessed, the amount of assessment for the purpose of this section shall be fixed by the Collector, having regard to the amount of assessment which would have been leviable on the same extent of forest land of similar nature in the same area.
