(1) The Commission shall have the powers to impose such fines and charges as may be provided by the regulation for contravention by a generating company licensee or other person, of any of the provisions of this Act or the rules and regulations made thereunder or the directions or orders of the Commission made from time to time. The fines that the Commission may impose may extend to rupees five lakh for contravention of any of the provisions of this Act and in case of a Continuing contravention, the Commission may impose a further fine which may extend to rupees twenty thousand for each day during which such contravention continues. (2) The Commission shall have the power to direct the person, who has contravened the provisions of this Act, to make payment of compensation to the person who has suffered loss or damage due to such contravention. (3) The fines and charges imposed and compensation ordered to be paid under this section shall be in addition to and not in derogation of any other liability under Chapter XI or under any other law for the time being in force.
