(1) Subject to the provisions of section 12, it shall be lawful for any person for the time being entitled to and in possession of a settled estate, and being a male and competent to contract, to apply to the 1[State Government] for permission to revoke wholly or in part any declaration that property shall be held subject to the provisions of this Act. (2) The 1[State Government], after considering the application and the result of any inquiry made by it or under its orders, and any further particulars or information called for by it, may 2[ * * * ] either grant or refuse permission, or grant permission in respect of a portion only of the property to which the application relates.
