(1) It shall be lawful for any person for the time being entitled to and in possession of a settled estate and competent to contract, to apply to the 1[State Government] for permission to add to the settled estate any other immovable property in respect of which an application might be made by him under section 3. (2) On receipt of such application the 1[State Government] shall proceed according to section 4 or sections 5 and 6.
