After section 31-B of the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973, the following sections shall be inserted, namely:- "31-C Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any other provision of this Act and in any other law for the time being inforce, any Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, who was appointed directly or by promotion on or after July 18, 1981 but not later than August 10, 1992 on adhoc basis in the King George's Medical College and the Gandhi Memorial Associated Hospitals, Lucknow and is continuing in services as such on the date of the commencement of the King George's Medical College and the Gandhi Memorial and Associated Hospitals (Taking Over)(Repeal) Act, 1998 and possessed requisite qualifications for regular appointment at the time of such ad hoc appointment, shall be deemed to be substantively appointed from the date of such ad hoc appointment. Explanation :- For the purposes of this section the words "Lecturer" and "Reader" referred to in this Act, shall mean the "Assistant Professor" and "Associate Professor" respectively."
