(1) The Chairman and the non-official members of the Board shall hold office for a period of three years from the date of their appointment as Chairman or as the case may be, other members: Provided that the term of office of the Chairman and the nonofficial members may be extended by the Government for a period not exceeding two years. (2) The Chairman and the non-official members shall on expiry of the term of their office be eligible for re-appointment. (3) Notwithstanding anything contained in any other provisions of this Act, the State Government may, if it thinks fit in public interest so to do, by a notification in the Official Gazette, terminate the appointment of the Chairman or any member before the expiry of the term for which he has been appointed and may by a similar notification reconstitute the Board at any time and the Board so reconstituted shall be deemed to be a Board constituted under section 4 of this Act. (4) Where the appointment of the Chairman or any member of the Board has been terminated under sub-section (3), he shall not be entitled to any compensation whatsoever in respect of the unexpired period of this appointment.
