(1) The Chancellor may, in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor appoint a suitable person, who is an eminent medical educationist as a Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University : Provided that, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall be a person who has held the post of professor or principal in an institution of Health Sciences for a period not less than seven years. (2) The term of Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall be co-terminus with the term of office of the ViceChancellor or till he attains the age of sixty years, whichever is earlier. (3) The Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall be a full time salaried officer of the University, and the pay and allowances admissible to him as well as the terms and conditions of his service shall be such as determined by the Government. (4) When the office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor falls vacant or when the Pro-Vice-Chancellor is, by reasons of illness or absence or any other cause, unable to perform the duties of his office, the Chancellor, upon the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor, may appoint a suitable person qualified to be appointed as Pro-Vice-Chancellor, to officiate as Pro-Vice-Chancellor, till the Pro-Vice-Chancellor resumes office, or new Pro-Vice-Chancellor assumes duties, as the case may be.
