(1) This Act may be called 1[the Maharashtra Highways Act]. 2[(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra.] (3) 3[This section shall be in force in the whole State.] The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, direct that all or any of the remaining provisions of this Act shall come into force in such area and on such date4 as may be specified in the notification : Provided that the State Government may, by notification issued in like manner exclude any road or way or class of roads or ways situate in such area from the operation of all or any of the provisions of this Act.
