(1) This Act may be called 1[the Maharashtra Court-fees Act]. (2) It extends to the whole of the 2[State of Maharashtra]. (3) It shall come into force on such 3date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. (4) The provisions of this Act shall not apply to fees or stamps relating to documents presented or to be presented before any officer serving under the Central Government. (5) In the absence of any specific provision to the contrary nothing in this Act shall affect any special law now in force relating to fees taken in the courts and public offices.
