(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra. (3) It shall come into force on such date1 as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. (4) It shall apply to cows 2[bulls or bullocks] and to scheduled animals.
