(1) A teacher of the university or a private college or pathashala shall not be disqualified for continuing as such teacher merely on the ground that he has been elected or nominated as member of the Legislative Assembly or of the Legislative Council of the State or of Parliament. (2) A teacher elected or nominated as a member of the Legislative Assembly or of the Legislative Council of the State or of Parliament shall be entitled to treat the period of his membership of the Legislative Assembly or of the Legislative Council or Parliament as on leave without pay and allowances. (3) A teacher referred to in sub-section (2) shall also be entitled to count the period of his membership of the Legislative Assembly or of the Legislative Council of the State or of Parliament for the purpose of pension, seniority and increments.
