In this Act unless there is anything repugnant to the subject or context,- (1) "the Gandhi National Memorial Fund" means the fund known as the Gandhi National Memorial Fund started under the auspices of the President of the Indian National Congress; (2) "local authority" means a municipal corporation constituted under the Bombay Municipal Corporation Act (Bom. III of 1888) or the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, 1949 (Bom. LIX of 1949) or a municipality constituted under the Bombay District Municipal Act, 1901 (Bom. III of 1901) or the Bombay Municipal Boroughs Act, 1925 (Bom. XVIII of 1925) or a district local board constituted under the Bombay Local Boards Act, 1923 (Bom. VI of 1923) or a village panchayat constituted under the Bombay Village Panchayats Act, 1933 (Bom. VI of 1933).
