(1) The Chancellor shall, by virtue of his office, be the Head of the University and shall, when present, preside over the meetings of the authorities of the University and the Convocation of the University. (2) The Chancellor may call for his information any papers relating to the administration and affairs of the University and such requisition shall be complied with by the University. (3) Every proposal to confer an honorary degree shall be subject to the prior approval of the Chancellor. (4) The Chancellor may, by an order in writing, annul any proceeding of any officer or authority of the University, which is not in conformity with this Act, the Statutes, the Ordinances or the regulations: Provided that, before making any such order, he shall call upon the officer or authority to show cause why such an order should not be made, and if any cause is shown within the time specified by him in this behalf, he shall consider the same, before passing the order. (5) The Chancellor shall exercise such other powers as are laid down by this Act or as may be conferred on him by the Statutes.
