23Filling of casual vacancy in the office of Pradhan and of the member.

(1) In the event of occurrence of any vacancy by reason of death, resignation, removal or otherwise in the office of Pradhan or of a member of a Gram Panchayat, the vacancy shall be filled by election in the manner prescribed.
(2) Every Pradhan and every Member elected to fill a casual vacancy, shall hold office for the remaining term of office of the person in whose place he is so elected:
Provided that no election for filling the casual vacancy shall be held if the vacancy is for a period of less than six months.
