17Election to the Legislative Assembly.

The provisions of Part I, Chapters III and IV of Part II and Parts III to XI of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), and of any rules and orders made thereunder for the time being in force, shall apply to and in relation to the elections to the Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya as they apply to and in relation to an election to the Legislative Assembly of a State, subject to such modifications as the President may, after consultation with the Election Commission, by order, direct.
