Summary

2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Academic and Activity Council" means the Academic and Activity Council of the University constituted under section 24 of this Act; (b) "Act" means the Uttar Pradesh State Sports University Act, 2021 ; (c) "Affiliated college" means a college or institution affiliated by the University under section 28 of this Act; (d) "Associated Activity School/College" means any institution recognised by the University and authorised under the provisions of this Act including Uttar Pradesh Sports department's infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh Sports Colleges/Hostels having sports facilities for at least three indoor and two outdoor sports facilities for games recognized by the State Government within a radius of fifteen kms from the outermost boundary of the College seeking affiliation in order to fulfil the practical sessions as per the curriculum required. (e) "Board" means the Board of Governors of the University constituted under section 20 of this Act; (f) "College" means a college or an institution teaching any of the courses leading to a degree or a diploma or a certificate etc under this Act ; (g) "Deans" means the Deans of the University appointed under section 15 of this Act; (h) "Directors" means the Director of the University appointed under section 14 of this Act; (i) "Employee" means any person appointed by the University and includes a teacher or any other member of the staff of the University; (j) "Faculty" means faculty of the University or College; (k) "Finance Committee" means the Finance Committee of the University constituted under section 26 of this Act; (l) "Hostel" means scholar/student hostel of the University or College; (m) "NAAC" means certification from National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India ; (n) "Registrar" means the Registrar of the University appointed under section 17 of this Act; (o) "Regulations" means the regulations of the University made under this Act; (p) "Regulatory Body" means the Statutory bodies established by the Central Government from time to time such as University Grants Commission and includes the All India Council For Technical Education, the Bar Council Of India, the Distance Education Council, the Dental Council of India, the Indian Nursing Council, the Medical Council of India, the National Council for Teacher Education, Central Council for Indian Medicine, the Pharmacy Council of India etc ; (q) "Statutes and Ordinances" means the Statutes and the Ordinances of the University for the time being in force ; (r) "Student" means a student enrolled in the register of the University or College Associated or Affiliated to the University; (s) "Teacher of the University" means Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, coaches and such other persons as may be appointed for imparting instructions, coaching, training or conducting research in the University, College or Institution and Study Centres maintained by the University and are designated as teachers by the Statutes ; (t) "Vice-Chancellor" means the Vice-Chancellor of the University appointed under section 12; (u) "University Grants Commission" means University Grants Commission established under section 4 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 ; (v) "Study Centre" means a centre established, maintained or recognised by the University for the purpose of advising, counselling, coaching, training or for rendering any other assistance required by the students ; (w) "University" means the University established and incorporated undersection 3 of this Act.
