325. The 1[Municipal Commissioner] or any Officer or servant of the 2[Corporation] authorized in this behalf may, at any time during the erection of the building or the execution of any work referred to in section 317, or within three months of the completion of such building or work, make an inspection thereof and if he has reasonable ground to suspect that in the election of any such building or in the execution of any such work anything has been done contrary to any provisions of this Act or of any rule or bye-law framed thereunder, he may after 15 days‘ prior notice in Writing to the person erecting such building or executing such work, cut into or lay open or pull down such portion, if any, of the building as prevents the discovery of facts sufficient to confirm or dispel the suspicion : Provided that the person whose building or construction has been cut into or laid open shall be paid compensation by the 1[Municipal Commissioner] for the damage caused to his building or work because of the aforesaid Act, where it is found that in the erection of the building or the execution of such work nothing was done by him contrary to the provisions of this Act.
