(I) The Academic Council shall be the Principal Academic Body of the University and subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes and the Ordinances:- (a) shall have the control and general regulation of, and be responsible for the maintenance of standards of instruction, education and research carried on or imparted in the University; (b) may advise the Executive Council on all academic matters including matters relating to examinations conducted by the University; and (c) shall have such powers and duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the statutes. (2) The Academic Council shall consist of the following members, namely:- (i) the Vice-Chancellor; (ii) the Deans of the Faculties; (iii) all other Heads of Departments of the University; (vi) all Professors of the University who are not Heads of departments; (v) two retired Principals of the Ayush Institutions or Ayush Colleges to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor; (vi) two Professors, two Associate Professors and two Assistant Professors from each Faculty of the colleges affiliated by the University to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor; and (vii) Five persons of the academic eminence to be nominated by the Vice- Chancellor. (3) The term of office of nominated members shall be two years
