(1) The Vice-Chancellor, if he considers necessary, may appoint a Pro-Vice-Chancellor from amongst the Professors of the University. (2) The Pro-Vice-Chancellor appointed under sub-section (I) shall discharge the duties in addition to his duties as a Professor. (3) The Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall hold office at the pleasure of the Vice- Chancellor. (4) The Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall get a special allowance of such amount as may be determined by general or special orders by the Government. (5) The Pro-Vice-Chancellor shall assist the Vice-Chancellor in respect of such matters as may be specified by the Vice-Chancellor in this behalf from time to time and shall preside over the meetings of the University in absence of the Vice-Chancellor and shall exercise such powers and perform such duties as may be assigned or delegated to him by the Vice-Chancellor.
