(1) The Chancellor may, on the recommendation of the Management Council supported by a majority of not less than two-thirds of its members present at its meeting, such majority comprising not less than one-half of its members, remove the name of any person from the register of graduates for such period as the Chancellor thinks fit, if such person has been convicted by a court for any offence which, in the opinion of the Management Council, is a serious offence involving moral turpitude. (2) No action under this section shall be taken unless the person concerned is, as prescribed by Statutes, given an opportunity of being heard in his defence.
