5. Appointment of Commandant, 1[Assistant Commandants and Adjutant.].- (1) The State Government may appoint for each group a Commandant who shall be a person eligible to hold the post of a 2[a Superintendent] and an Assistant Commandant 3[and an Adjutant who shall be persons] eligible to hold the post of an Assistant or a Deputy Superintendent. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), the State Government may appoint such Military Officer as it deems fit to be a Commandant or Assistant Commandant, 4[or Adjutant]. (3) The Commandant, the Assistant Commandant, 5[the Adjutant] and every other officer so appointed shall have and may exercise such powers and authority as may be provided by or under this Act.
<span style="margin-left:15px;"></span><b>5.
