(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Slum Areas (Improvement, Clearance and Redevelopment) Act, 1971. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra. (3) It shall come into force in such areas1 and on such date2 as the State Government may by notification in the Official Gazette appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different areas.
