(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Official Languages Act, 1964. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra. (3) This sections and section 3 shall come into force on the 26th day of January 1965; and the remaining provisions of this Act shall come into 1, 2force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act or different matters referred to in those provisions.
