For the purposes of sections 6 and 16, the Registrar General, Divisional Registrar, District Registrar, Assistant Registrar and the officer authorized under section 16; and for the purposes of 1[section 14 and 18], the District Registrar shall have and may exercise the same powers as are vested in a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (5 of 1908), in respect of the following matters, namely :- (a) enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath ; (b) compelling the production of documents and material objects ; (c) issuing commissions for the examination of witnesses ; and (d) proof of facts by affidavits.
