(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra District Planning Committees (Constitution and Functions) Act, 1998. (2) It extends to whole of the State of Maharashtra, excluding the Scheduled Areas declared by the President of India, from time to time, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 6 of the Fifth Schedule to the Constitution of India. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by 1notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
