(1) This Act may be called the Seeds Act, 1966.
(2) It extends to the whole of India.
(3) It shall came into force on such date
1as the Central Government may, by notification in the
Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act, and
for different States or for different areas thereof.

1. 2nd September, 1968, vide notification No. S.O. 3122 , dated 29 th August, 19 68 , in respect of ss. 1 to 6, ss. 8 to 11, s. 18, ss. 22 to 25 see Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, sec. 3(ii).
