4Incorporation of Institutes.

¹[(1) Every Institute shall be a body corporate by the same name as mentioned in column (5) of the Schedule.]
²[(1A) On and from the date of commencement of the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Act, 2023, the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai, shall be called the "Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai" and all the provisions of this Act shall apply to the said Institute.]
³[(1B) On and from the date of commencement of the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Act, 2025, all the provisions of this Act shall apply to the Indian Institute of Management, Guwahati.]
(2) Every Institute referred to in column (5) of the Schedule shall have perpetual succession and a common seal, with power, subject to the provisions of this Act, to acquire, hold and dispose of property, both movable and immovable, and to contract and shall, by the said name, sue or be sued.
