This Act may be called the Indian Christian Marriage Act, 1872.
Extent.1[It extends to the whole of India 2[except 3[the territories which, immediately before the
1st November, 1956, were comprised in the States] of Travancore-Cochin, Manipur and 4***].]5

"Provided that nothing contained in this Act shall apply to the Renoncants of the Union territory of Pondicherry."--
